About

A short story of my my life and when I joined the forces and my meeting my first wife

Ada Baik

An interlude in my life which was the best ever

Memories

To remember short stories of interests, Some funny sad, But I hope KOYLI/2LI will send me their stories and pictures

Malacca

Malacca

We first first arrived in Terendak camp in 1962 after travelling through the oceans on the TT Nevasa, Malacca is where I met and married my Chinese bride, all my my mates enjoyed the fun there.

Kuala Lumpur

Visited Kuala Lumpur a few times -- the funniest but not at the time was when I had to get the high commissioner to bail Noi out of the clutches of the immigration dept

Singapore

Photos of Singapore in the 60s when Les and Reg Potts went to Singapore on holiday, and later in the 80's. This City gets cleaner and more modernised every time I visit.

Baba Nyonya

Very interesting page on the famous culture on the west coast of Malaya, the Straits Chinese.More interesting because the family i write about is a KOYLI family, Crowie Moore and his dear wife sally born into the Baba Nyonya culture in Malacca, see photos of Sally's family home and the artefacts there, plus plenty of history and photos.

Nyonya recipes

Lovely Baba-Nyonya recipes given to me by my friends the Moore family -- You can see them on the Baba Nyonya page

Borneo

Our regiment was called to arms to search out and destroy the enemy in Brunei when terrorists tried over run the palace and Usurp the king. We were then recalled to arms again, but this time to prevent the indonesian from over running Northern Borneo

Bario

This outpost in Sarawak was an airfield used by the KOYLI with permission of the local tribe headman, our men were made very welcome by all the villagers. Photos on this page

Aden

In 1965/66 whilst serving in Tidworth, We had to leave our families to prevent the Yemeni army from over running the democratic government in Aden, We lived in tents for 9 months

Berlin

After our tour of duty in Tidworth in 1967 we were sent with our families to West Berlin for a two year tour of duty with our families, we enjoyed this posting.

Remembrance

Many of my friends I served with in the forces have died, there families like to know their loved ones are remembered, so thanks to my mate Crowie who allowed me to use his list I have created a remembrance list --  with photos if I can get one,

Pingat Medal

The Malaysian Pingat medal is issued the Malaysian government to Commonwealth Troops who served in Malaysia during the toubles, The HM Government refused the british ex forces from being the medal at first but after a long campaign and sanction by Her Majesty the Queen, we are now allowed it  more information on page.

Veterans Medal

Many national servicemen because of their short service missed out on other later medals, but this clasp as it is called can be obtained by applying for it -- please see page for information.

My Bits

Carousel

A long time ago I tried my very first slideshow - not the java script coding, but to get one working, it is not hard this one apart from figuring out the dimensions and how many slides you can use -- to get it to fit on a page.

Matrix

Another boring Java script Urghh, I try and have a bit of fun and I had just watched the Matrix on a DVD, then I came across the matrix script, just played about with the variables, and stuck a photo of me being the 'Drunken looking Matrix guy' ha ha, If you let it run to its full course there is a little message.

Birds in a shower

I used the book flip Java script to show the little sparrows (Birds) in my garden getting a shower/Bath in a water feature, I remember one day a sparrow looking around then entering the feature and getting sprinkled with water, it rushed out but went in again, and he/she soon had a load of Sparrow spectators wanting to get in on the act -- so EVERY morning they queue up to get a bath -- real cute.

Wisdom

Some years ago I put together a few great Mathematicians from ancient times and modern -- Not very exciting, but if you are interested in Maths, and don't mind my editing you could enjoy.
